Obsessive-compulsive disorder is characterized by the presence of intrusive, unwanted thoughts or images. An individual with OCD then feels compelled to engage in repetitive actions aimed at “neutralizing” these thoughts.
This typically takes the form of performing the same actions over and over until an individual experiences the “just right feeling” and can stop. This may reduce the anxiety temporarily but makes it worse down the line.
At GSWC we offer the cognitive-behavioral approach aimed at helping you understand and break the cycle of OCD.
