I primarily specialize in providing services geared towards taking individuals towards the wellness side on the illness-wellness continuum. Mental wellness can take the form of being in connection with oneself and others. Having a balanced relationship with your own thoughts and feelings can help you make better, more confident and fulfilling choices in life. Building relationships with others is likely to improve your satisfaction with life and stress resilience.

If you struggle with daily stressors, need help understanding your thoughts and feelings, your relationships with others, find a clearer direction in life, I can offer a variety of approaches to help promote your wellbeing.

Specific services:

Individual counselling sessions (30 or 60 minutes)

These sessions are tailored to your needs. I can help with motivation, self-confidence, body image, time management, improving relationships, relaxation exercises, improving yourself, developing communication and decision-making skills. We can also focus directly on feelings of anxiety, depression, and stress.

During these appointments we will set an agenda, focusing on a specific goal or problem you wish to work on.  We will collaboratively plan a strategy and implement techniques that align with your values and aspirations. You will walk away from these sessions feeling understood and will have actionable steps that you can implement to have a better week.

Focusing-orientated counselling sessions (30 minute or 50 minute)

During these sessions we will help you understand your feelings and develop a different relationship with them. We do this through a process called focusing, which is method where we help you identify and verbalize the bodily-felt senses we have about situations and people. It is a gentle process where my aim is for you to feel listened to, understood, and treated with respect.

Focusing works by checking inside yourself for a whole-body sense of a particular situation or a person. Most of us don’t take the time to really listen to ourselves on this deeper level.  I will guide you into this deeper level of awareness that is initially typically murky and unclear. During these sessions, new ideas, understanding, or next steps can come about in a spontaneous way and this may be exactly what is needed to solve a problem. When doing so, you will feel a sense of rightness and easing of tension that can tell you that you are on the right track.

Focusing can also help us get comfortable with our feelings that we may be avoiding.  It is a gentle way of being with them so they no longer control your life. This is done through me providing you a comfortable space to allow these emotions to come. We respect them and see them as having something valuable to offer and share.

Eating Disorder caregiver support sessions (30 to 60 minutes)

These sessions are for individuals who know someone who is struggling with an eating disorder and are looking for support for themselves.  Eating disorders are taxing not only on the individual, but those around them.  It’s hard to watch a loved one suffer and that can take a toll.  I am here to help you cope with this complex illness and provide support to you, so you can be there for your loved one.  I offer eating disorder education, problem solving, and emotional support.  These sessions are for you, and I hope to provide a space where you can speak freely about your experiences in a non-judgmental, compassionate and safe space.
